A bit excessive

Thanked: 3223I think the article is a little bit misleading in that no fine has been paid yet and the accused has to appear in court at which point the amount of the fine will be determined by the judge. IIRC the fines start at $1200.00 CAD
From this article https://www.cheknews.ca/mandatory-qu...canada-658181/
The penalty for violating this order could cost anyone caught up to $750,000. It could also result in arrest and up to six months in jail.
Penalties are even more drastic if officials believe someone is jeopardizing others’ lives “while wilfully or recklessly contravening the act.” If caught, that could mean fines up to $1 million or three years in prison.

Thanked: 4826They need to start fining Canadians who travel and not spend the two weeks ensuring that they are virus free before contacting others. They have been leaning on people passing through a wee bit, but honestly there is a much broader group that this should apply too.
Also that’s classic Canadian reporting, talking about the maximum penalty. Few people arrested in Canada ever face the maximum for anything. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 3215Sebastian Blanco has been writing about electric vehicles, hybrids, and hydrogen cars since 2006. His articles and car reviews have appeared in the New York Times, Automotive News, Reuters, SAE, Autoblog, InsideEVs, Trucks.com, Car Talk, and other outlets. His first green-car media event was the launch of the Tesla Roadster, and since then he has been tracking the shift away from gasoline-powered vehicles and discovering the new technology's importance not just for the auto industry, but for the world as a whole. Throw in the recent shift to autonomous vehicles, and there are more interesting changes happening now than most people can wrap their heads around. You can find him on Twitter or, on good days, behind the wheel of a new EV.
Yea, another unbiased reporter, no agenda there. Here in California, they can’t keep the lights on, but you can charge your EV at a much-discounted Government Subsidized rate. What will happen if everyone goes to electric?
Wind, solar and other “green” electric generators are less than 2 percent of the grid, can you say Nuclear?

Thanked: 3223Yes, the Quarantine Act applies to anyone entering Canada from abroad including returning Canadians and should be enforced more rigorously than it has been. Having US plates makes you an easy target for people to report to authorities.
The report appeared in an American magazine and was likely not properly researched.

Thanked: 3215So, guess who he is voting for?
Who is going to suffer when Americans say, Ok, won’t be going to Canada? Canadian small business. Look who he writes for, that is the point of posting his bio.
There is a press agenda. It is not reporting, it is agenda driven propaganda.
Half of Southern California will re-open fully tomorrow, in spite of the Governor and the press propaganda. Problem is most of small business will not, 50-70 percent say they are done. And it did not have to happen, is was and is politically driven.
Marijuana and liquor stores stay open, Schools small business, restaurants and churches must close. Rioting and burning down police station and federal building with no masks, that is peaceful protest.
There was a coordinated attack on Police stations across Southern California yesterday, not one word in the press, it did not happen.
Do you think people will pay those fines, or just say, I will not be going back to Canada? So, what is the point of targeting Americans, and reporting it.
