You wouldn't have to clean the refrigerator is something smelled?

One time we had to throw a refrigerator out when somehow the plastic in the bottom got cracked and meat juice leaked into the insulation.

There were 5 of us kids and parents in the home and no one would admit cracking it..............

The filter does serve a purpose unless you like a stinking interior which then permeates the contents inside.

You can buy off brand replacements on Amazon for a fraction of the cost of OEMs and they also sell a small battery powered rechargeable unit that produces a small amount of ozone and it does the same thing and long term is much cheaper.

Yes, it serve that purpose and you can get less expensive off brands and/or play with a rechargeable battery gizmo if you like. OTH, you can just use some baking soda in an open dish as folks have done for decades for a clean smelling fridge interior. All the items you mentioned are more costly solutions to a non existent problem if you go the backing soda route.

My fridge has a warning light too, it's right at the back.

Yep baking soda works fine. Or how about just cleaning the fridge every now and then. It’s like a microwave, doesn’t take much to wipe out, I use the Clorox wipes in the fridge and vinegar water in the micro, works fine. We got one of those new 4 door French behemoths last year, nor air filter in the spot either, haven’t figured that out yet, but I didn’t put one in . Maybe that’s what is keeping me safe from the COVID, or the bourbon

Now I got to go look for a light? I bought my fridge 5 years ago so I guess it's possible it may have a light. I've never seen it so far. Damn technology! But as been said, Clean the damn thing out and no problem! There is just the wife and me in the house now so if a mess is in the fridge the wife knows who did it.

Nope! Just a water filter that the wife changes normally.

An air filter is the least of your worries. There are fridges that can monitor yourfood and will alert you when your running low on milk etc. They can alert you when expiration date is near and even order your groceries online for you.
