Sorry...make that 9th largest. Texas is economy is just slightly smaller than that of the entire country of Italy.

Yes Texas has the economy NOW but if it seceded and was it's own country there would be a mass exodus of all the brains and wealth. Even now they are dependent on the Federal Govt for aid after this latest disaster. What happens when there is no Federal Govt to the rescue?

Then they'd be better off. Liberals love to say these kinds of things.You can't simplify things that easily. There would also be a mass influx of people who wanted to remain in an American country but escape the throttling greedy fingers of the federal government

States united into a country for a reason as did the provinces in Canada. Sometimes it works out better than others, but that doesn’t diminish the value of being a citizen of the country.
