California is the state everyone loves to hate. However the fact is if it was a country by itself it would do very well without the rest of the U.S. I don't think any other state could make that claim.

Texas. Texas has the 12th largest economy in the world, is along the outside border of the nation and is large enough and borders on two major bodies of water.

Sorry...make that 9th largest. Texas is economy is just slightly smaller than that of the entire country of Italy.

Yes Texas has the economy NOW but if it seceded and was it's own country there would be a mass exodus of all the brains and wealth. Even now they are dependent on the Federal Govt for aid after this latest disaster. What happens when there is no Federal Govt to the rescue?
