After Hurricane Andrew a lot of the insurance companies wanted to stop offering coverage in coastal areas and put riders on for hurricanes but the governor and the state insurance commissioner assured them they would never insure another thing in Florida if they did so.

I personally don't mind if you live in a hurricane or flood zone but what makes me mad is when you want the government to bail you out when the once every 5 or 10 year storm shows up.
P.S.The one I can feel sorry for is a tornado because as far as I can see they are very random. They can take one house in the middle of many out with not a scratch on the neighbors.Last edited by 32t; 03-04-2021 at 11:14 PM.

Except for the fact that Tornado Alley has way, WAY more tornados than the gulf coast has hurricanes. Also a hurricane is a tornado. That's why they call it a tropical cyclone. This is the thing: I am the player and the insurance companies are the house. I'm betting there is going to be a disaster and they are betting there is not. The problem is that they want to stack the deck to where they can't lose. You know who else does that? The mob...and the government of course but as the saying goes, "If the mob is organized crime then the government is really, really organized crime."
