I am not a big proponent of catch and release. In many ways it is a feel good thing.

If I catch 10 and eat them I feel I have killed less fish than someone that catches 100 and releases them.

I've got a fishin buddy that's been with me since childhood, we grew up together fishing this and other lakes ( frozen or thawed ). We always compete against each other, while fishin, though its just for fun.

He'll be joining me , on today's outing.

When I stayed with Joel (Benz) on my 2019 ride we had a fish fry for supper. I 'think' that the two fish were Pike and Walleye. Both were very mild but still flavorful. I can't remember which fish it was but it had what Joel called 'Y' bones and there was a lot of them. Kind of a pain in the ass to find them in your bite of a crispy battered piece but I got through it.

If you've never seen Danny Glover and Joe Pesci in 'Gone Fishin' you need to find it and watch it.

Just think of this....with each fish you kill, ( female ) you kill tens of thousands of potential offspring.

The mortality of released fish, is much greater than u realize.
