Thread: Look what I woke up to this morning

This last week or so we have been having light snow/ snow pellets off and on with no measurable accumulation.

One morning the bridges were pretty darn slippery and I don't believe how many people were caught off guard.

Tomorrow is suppose to get up around 60'f in the afternoon and I hope that my schedule allows me to get out on the roof for my work that I have been putting off!

My Friday night it was said to have snowed in Denver 3 to 6 inches. But I was off the next day so I didn't get to see it. Darn! But I've had snow in my yard for a week now. It's just not warming up enough to melt. Although we did have a warm spell about 3 weeks ago. The yards are starting to turn green and the trees are budding.

Boy it's beautiful here. Seems the pollen count must be down.
We had a few dreary-looking weeks I always attribute to the Mexicans burning their fields.
They won't report that anymore.
Politically incorrect I suppose...

All my stuff was budding before the Great Freeze, so I think my lemon tree is dead.
Must have had 300 buds in it the day before..
Lotsa dead stuff. Watering and hoping for any sign of life.

When that snow hit yesterday the roads went lethal.
A video showed semi truck rolling over and exploding its cargo. A snow plow rolled over at least twice and a poor woman from Tennessee was killed.

Wow, our snow wasn't that bad. I had to shovel but it's almost all gone already.

Mind you, I live in the most southern town in Canada, south of Northern California!

I lived up north in Elliot Lake for ten years and my snow piles would get so high that I couldn't throw the snow high enough and had to start another. One year there was so much snow that the garbage truck couldn't get through and I hand shoveled for the entire time. Now I live in a town that sees snow about 3 times a year and it disappears within a week or so but I bought a snowblower when I moved here, I've used it about 4 times in 4 years!

I thought I would add a photo of our Elliot lake snow, it would snow just after Halloween and not melt, just added more and more until it finally went in late April.

A lot of folks don’t realize that the northern part of the states around the Great Lakes gets a LOT of snow because of the lake effect. There are places in upstate NY where the snow gets much deeper than we see on the Ontario shores of the lakes. Very much lke what Steve’s picture shows for northern Ontario.

We actually get flurries here every few years but the last real snow here was 1996.

Elliot Lake is 20 KM north of Lake Huron.

Yep, same thing here. Twas really beautiful actually, though we had to cover some plants and it broke a branch off my Redbud tree.
