It seems like the primary premise of the add condemning straight razors is that shaving foams and gels are not eco friendly. I agree wholeheartedly. Furthermore, shaving foams and gels just do not do a very good job of preparing your face for a shave. However, how many shavers who use straight razors use canned foams or gels?. I would bet the percentage is extremely small.

Most high quality shaving soaps are comprised of biodegradable ingredients that have minimal impact upon the environment, but a major impact upon the quality of the shave.

Thus, as with most advertisements, this one has a lot of rhetoric, but little truth. What can be more environmentally friendly than a straight razor that can give shaves for your lifetime and beyond.

The biggest drawback to straight shaving is learning to hone and strop. Rhetoric and nonsense leads the way today in advertising medicine and politics. And most other things in this modern age. Don't get me wrong there are many useful things that are very helpful. But many things are better left simple imo. It used to be find a need and fill it. Now it's invent an artificial or perceived problem and then a device to go along with it.
