Default I like to re-read this at least once a year...

And around now, it just seems appropriate.

Good post, Rob. There are some classics I too like to reacquaint myself with now and then, and I'm certainly going to add this one to the list.

I am embarrassed to say that I did not read that for the first time until after college. I cannot imagine why this document is not dissected line by line in every middle school history class.

Sadly, not all middle schools even teach history to any great extent. My children were taught very little. I once asked a young waitress who served me a Sam Adams if she knew who Adams was. She proudly said, "Yes, I do. He was a patriot." Impressed, I asked her if she learned that in school. She said, "No, from a Sam Adams beer commercial."

    Who says TV isn't educational?

In all seriousness, though, there are a lot of sat facts about the education system in the US.
