Thanked: 2209Please worry less, this is a procedure that many have done before. I have had 8 angiograms/angioplasty going from the groin to the heart and I am still here at age 74!
Invasive procedures of any kind are frequently disturbing to contemplate but it is so very nice to not have that problem/suffering afterward anymore.Last edited by randydance062449; 07-08-2023 at 12:23 PM.

Today's update.
I went to the local hospital, they wanted to try to give me an IV as i guessed they would.
I let them try once and they failed also as i knew they would because last time they tried 9 times.
I am on oral antibiotic for the weekend and i am booked to get the picc line at 10:30 Monday morning so that's a couple of days with no sleep for me.
On the upside assuming i don't die of fear, it doesn't have to be changed which is good because i am also waiting for a bone scan appointment to see if the infection has reached my bone, then they will give me a different antibiotic too for maybe 6 weeks so lets hope my bone is not infected.
I just don't understand, I have always been healthy as a gypsy horse. I must have upset someone important big time.- - Steve

We all think we're the "man of steel" until we find out we aren't.
Usually with a procedure like that they give you some med that makes you feel really good. If they don't, ask for it and make sure you get enough. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I agree.
I went in for a proceedure one time and I told the doc that I was nervious. He gave me something to take before. Whatever it was I said that I didn't think it was doing any good and my wife who was in the room said "Yes it is." LOL!
Like Mike I have seen pictures of my heart live and thought that that was pretty cool!

Thanked: 5Hi,
I just thought I’d share my hospital story. I had a Maxillary Osteotomy at the beginning of the year. Was a bit nervous about having the lower half of my skull cut off, moved and bolted back into place. The anticipation is always always ALWAYS the worst part. And of course they give you plenty of time to overthink the whole procedure. Needless to say, they gave me a myriad of pain meds and even offered me Percocet. I declined because that stuff scares me but they were surprisingly accommodating despite OHIP.
Bottom line: put me down for a picc line instead next time. Better a thin line through your veins than a stump for a leg!
Anyway, let us know how it all shakes out on Monday. You don’t need luck. Just something to keep your mind busy Take care and get better.
Well wishes from Windsor
Neal

No matter how bad you think you have it there is always someone who has it a tad worse.
I had open heart surgery 25 years ago. You know what they do? They saw your breastbone down the middle then like a curtain being pulled back your entire ribcage is pulled back. Then they stop your heart and put you on a heart lung machine and the surgeon grabs you heart in his hand and removes the protective membrane and trashes it and cuts your heart open. Then they reverse the procedure and if you are lucky your heart starts again.
I still get chest pains from the steel sutures they used which are still in me and I have to take an antibiotic before any dental procedures otherwise you can wind up like Bobby Darin. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Well here it is.
Picc day, 10:30 this morning.
I plan to put in my earbuds and play my music loud, with the music loud and my eyes closed I might not know anything.
In fact i haven't slept all night and its half 3 now so with my music and my eyes closed i might even sleep, I'm wearing an eye mask because I don't want to know anything hear anything or see anything.- - Steve
