The main thing that keeps carp and catfish out of my diet is thet the places like rivers that I can catch them around here are to polluted.

I don't want to impose but try smoked eel with lemon juice and bread with butter. Additionaly, with a shot of frozen pure vodka.

Thanked: 56And of course, Walleye!
Never had eel, carp or catfish.
Around here Asians seem to love Carp.
Years ago we used to have the same group of Americans fish up in Southampton Ontario every year for the Catfish. They loved them!
I don't know anyone here who eats them.
Maybe we are missing something.Last edited by stoneandstrop; 02-11-2024 at 08:21 PM.

Their a meaty flesh, not flaky like most fish. Slightly oily, but a somewhat sweet taste about them.
I was hesitant about them, at first. But after eating it...I like it a lot.
Tim...I feel ya. One lake here is typically very clear. But the cat fish taste just like the black moss growing on the bottom, smells like. Very musty flavor. Another with limited visibility, muck bottom...taste great.!
Walleye can be the same way, depending on the location in the lake they were caught in..
Grandpa always soaked his catfish, overnight in milk. His came from some muddy creek he knew of. I never noticed any odd flavors, but he said u would if he didn't. Just go lick the dirt road y'all drove in here on, you'll get the ideaMike

I am talking more of industrial pollution. A good place to catch fish is below the sewer outlets...
But I would not wan't to eat them. {Thank goodness I am not hungry enough to!}
