Candy for soldiers: a European - US joint effort
Sometime ago I proposed the 'Belgian Candy' initiative whereby you could buy Belgian chocolate and waffles from me for a modest price.
One of our members (who will remain anonymous for now) PMed me to say that if I sent a box to a member stationed in Iraq, he'd double the amount so that I could send 2 boxes.
JMS and I talked about setting up something like that on a bigger scale, and now the time is ripe. Here is how it will work.
I will buy typical Belgian candy and ship it to Iraq or Afghanistan. JMS is taking care of the shipping addresses.
If you would like to make a donation for this cause, send a PM to JMS. He will keep track of the people wanting to help. We don't know in advance how much interest there will be so to avoid a possible torrent of money to my paypal account (I don't trust them), you will get a PM when it is time to send money. You choose the amount yourself.
doing it like this gives us some control over what will happen and when it happens.
I will convert all money to candy (regardless of how much it is) and ship it.
If you have any questions about this initiative, post them here and JMS or I will try to answer them.
EDIT: Everything will be done at cost.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

There are two people on the site here that you could talk to as well, sinnfein and martlet, who are both overseas, but those are only the Americans. There are some Brits and Danes around me, but I have no idea if any of them are members here. Just a thought.

Maybe the reason we're not getting any responses is due to the melting point of chocolate! Bruno and I talked about candies that won't melt, if you are interested in this option.
