It's about freakin' time! (Long post)
I am finally going to take a much needed break, it has been one heck of a year. I am returning back to the states from “working” overseas. Duh. Of course I cannot say exactly when I will be returning but let’s just say it is close enough that my internet access will be sporadic for awhile, which is why I am writing this now. I learned a wonderful hobby this year, which I believe has turned into a lifelong endeavor, and more than anyone or anything else, I would like to thank the members of this fine site. It is the advice and encouragement from this site that got me going in the beginning and kept me on the straight and narrow when I hit some rough patches (pun intended). Not having at least some local support or other wet shavers was kind of a pain in the ass, but the good news is I managed to convert three people while I was here. Having said that, there are some members, who I would like to personally thank, even though I may not ever get to do it in person.
Lynn – for this site, for the fine DVD and starting me down this road by honing my first razor. I have a pretty good feeling my wife won’t thank him, but eh – whaddya gonna do?
Josh Earl – honing a razor here and there, some excellent razor sales, and some invaluable advice about stropping and honing.
Alan (AFDavis11) – providing some razors that I learned some honing techniques with, and not to mention the supremely interesting stropping experiments, and getting others to join in. Sometimes hilarious, always entertaining. Any man willing to go through the god awful pain of a crappy SR shave for the benefit of others is tops with me. The pseudo-contests between him and others to see who quit first are the definition of manly shaves. I’m still waiting for the “experiment” with the sharpened battle axe shave, maybe a flint blade, not sure where it’s going to go next.
Dave (DMS) – selling me (practically gave it away) my second razor, which (in my mind) solidified my dedication to the art. That razor is still in my rotation and still one of my better razors. You can’t beat it for that price.
Eric (ucliker) – for a great sale on a Boker, which then proceeded to scare the crap out of me when it took FOREVER to get here (not his fault obviously). I thought for sure that razor was lost in the mail, and I was pissed. Anyways, it is still probably my sharpest and best shaver. Those Boker’s are awesome.
Chris (c utz) – for introducing to me my first wedge, and giving me some good advice on other wedges. We shall see how that goes.
Joe Chandler – The best re-scale job I could have ever asked for on a Wapi I sent him. Do I really need to elaborate on that? Nah, we have all seen his work. One of these days, when I have the money, it will be a JC custom from the bottom up (or top down, whatever).
Chris (XChris) – for sending me some wonderful soaps and telling me how to use them the right way, and how to use the brush the right way when I was first starting out. Would’ve been a bad start without him.
Wassomeoneelse for meeting me in person and exchanging some good advice face to face when he was here. Once in a while, it’s just nice to meet someone else in the flesh that shares this with us.
Colleen (churley) – I cannot thank her enough for what she did for me while I was over here. Bless you and your entire family, Colleen. ‘Nuff said.
Tony Miller – well kinda like Joe Chandler, don’t really need to say much or elaborate. First hanging strop, and I seriously doubt I will ever buy a strop from anyone else. Of course, I am still fantasizing about the OD green strop with subdued black hardware all over that won’t give away my position with its shininess. It’s a dream I have.
For the following gentlemen whose advice I value (not just in razors), or because you are so damned funny, but for many of you, both of those. This is not all inclusive, so if you feel I have missed you, I apologize.
Alex, Lou, RichZ, xman, Jimbo, majurey, Taz, DwarvenChef, gratewhithuntr (even though I think he left), Bruno, JMS, jaegerhund, wirebeard, nenad, firestart, wildtim, some of the elder members (that’s right you old fogeys) and pretty much too many other people to mention.
All of you have made this year not too bad, relatively speaking, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
But my wife dislikes you greatly.

Jim,
That's great that you'll be back stateside again... We all owe you (and your wife) a debt of gratitude for your sacrifice.
And I think you're wife's attitude about us will change once she gets to enjoy your baby smooth face...
