    Default Is this a migraine?

I get these damn headaches usually when a low pressure front comes through. Certain foods such as chocolate and caffeine can bring them on as well as certain smells. I usually get stomach aches/nausea , sensitivity to sounds and light ----they usually only last a few hours. Anyway, just thought I'd bring it up for topic.

I didn't know I had them until I saw an Allergist.

Do you get blurred vision as well?

After I started using allergy medicines I haven't had any.

Sorry you have those man, they can ruin your whole day.

    Have you seen an Allergist?

From what I know, which is precious little, it sounds like a migraine, but any of those other things can cause headaches to those who don't get migraines, from what I've heard.

It's cool Randy ----- I always just thought they were headaches, as I've had them my whole life. No, I've never seen an allergists before. I've just decided to live with them for the most part. I think my vision does get blurred --- it's really impossible to concentrate on much of anything as it affects my whole body --- neck muscles, ear aches, nausea, vision, anger threshold , etc. What I've read about migraines, it seems there is a link to low serotonin levels as well and it's a vascular problem also. I don't know ---- just thought I get the word from people who have them for sure.

Yeah -- it's one of things were you want to say "it's a migraine" but it might just be all in my head .

I guess I could see a doctor but it's like bringing a dog to a vet for me to see a doctor --- I plant my feet and I need to be yanked yelping all the way.

But anyway I'll be posting a "Justin's Migraine Fund" thread soon --- so save up your cash so I can by a new cordless drill--- oops --- I mean get medical treatment.

as SWMBO would say, if you can still type, not a migraine. of course different people handle it differently.

she gets them when thunderstorms come in, or being around certain scents, mostly floral. i have had some headaches that were not pleasant, but i don't think any that would compare to hers.

good luck and hope they get better.

Yes, that's a migraine. Until about the middle of last year I had them every few days - every time a front rolled through, or I had too much or too little caffeine, or the smog got too high, or the ozone got too high, or the humidity got too high or too low, etc... Anyway, on the recommendation of my wife's niece (who is fresh out med school) I started taking Claritin-D every day, and it got a lot better. Now it's only once ever few weeks, and the onset is slower so I have more time to recognize what's happening and hit it with some reinforcements.

The downside is I get treated like a potential criminal every two weeks when I buy a new box, but it's better than the alternative. And every two weeks I'm reminded not to vote for that Obama chap who wrote that law.

This is all very good information from everyone. I have taken Claritin D in the past and it did help so I think you are on to something.
