I was watching that game when it
happened. The crowd got real quiet
for quite some time afterwards
until they made the announcement
that he was stable and on the
way to a local hospital.
Earlier in the season Patrice Bergeron
of the Bruins was the recipient of a
cheap hit headfirst into the boards. He
was unconscious and obviously not
moving on the ice even when they took
him off. He didn't regain consciousness
until on the way to the hospital. I thought
for sure he was paralyzed. Luckily he
wasn't but he hasn't returned yet and may
never play again from what it sounds like.

Clint Malarchuk had a very similar experience and lived to talk about it. A doctor hopped onto the ice in order to pinch the artery closed with his fingers - otherwise, he might have died right there in front of thousands in attendance (and millions watching at home).
Maybe the camera men have had training instructing them to pan away in such situations since this event, because the link to the first video doesn't show anything too graphic.

Anyone else think it is strange that the last three times this has happened The Sabres were on the ice?
