    Default A Shelby

I just happened to notice the word "Shelby" in your post so I had to look. I owned an original 1968 Shelby GT500, gold with black interior. It was a wonderful vehicle and fond memories come to mind when I see the name or read stories about that car. I eventually sold it because I couldn't afford the payments along with the insurance. I still have the original keys and the payment book. I was paying about $82 a month for that car and I bought it originally for $2700. Seems like nothing now but, back then, $82 was a week's salary. The insurance was another $50 a month and I had to let the car go.

That Shelby, with a 428 CID engine, was an absolute mind-boggling thrill to drive.

I notice that I am smiling as I write this. Thanks for your post. Nice memories.

That is so nice, unfortunately you would have to add 300% or so to the price in order to register it in Denmark =)

I've had the opportunity to meet Carroll Shelby a number of times. He had a small ranch property outside or Pittsburg, Tx where I lived for about 15 years, and not far from his birthplace. A true gentleman with a great sense of humor.

I've seen interviews with him and he seemed to be a genuine fellow --- the kind of guy you would like to hang out with --- almost a little understated in his appreciation for his accomplishments.
