Thanked: 3Man, hilarious story. Sorry you had such a rough time. My experience with the dentist is quite the opposite of yours in that I haven't had any bad experiences. They always say my teeth are too perfect.

Don't worry about dignity, I'm sure they have seen (or are going to see) much worse than this!
But yeah, if I didn't want to get caught loking and drooling (which I don't) I'd close my eyes. It doesn't show that you're terrified - especially if you tell them that you are just going to relax a bit while they do their job... But you'll have to ease up on the clenched fingers, lol
