    Default "John Adams" on HBO

Is anyone watching this miniseries? Amazing! Very authentic, thought provoking.

For our non-US members...I'm not sure if HBO broadcasts overseas (satellite, etc.) but if you have a chance, make an effort to watch this mini-series....it will amaze you.

It shows the origins of the US without all the propaganda and spin; it shows what our origins were and, in some cases, how we have strayed, and in others, how we have exceeded the dreams of the founders.

A great drama, regardless of your political views.

There was an article in the Boston Globe about some of the liberties it is taking with history. While it may be roughly accurate in terms of presenting the environment of the time, they listed things like Adams never being at the "shot heard round the world" site in reality.

The general sense of history is ok, but don't trust the details.

    Otherwise I'm enjoying it too.

I did expect some literary license, but it does seem to be more in keeping with history than many recent films (Braveheart for one....). Giamatti is doing a great job of portraying Adams, esp. showing how he depended on his wife for guidance and as a sounding board.

    I am loving this series!

I've been a big fan of Paul Giamatti for quite some time, and I'm a history buff as well so it shouldn't be too surprising.

I have been recording this on my DVR and will probably save it for future viewing and reference.
