My $.02 is that there was nothing inherently wrong with the concept of the "Women on the Forum" thread, including the desire that posts should be made by women only. However, I have to agree with SidneyKidney... the huge block letters stating:

Men do not post in this thread it will be deleted,...

was pretty "in your face" and honestly, it kinda pissed me off a bit too.

To me, the wording represents a completely totalitarian attitude in a forum which usually does not condone such a tone. None of us knows if it was intended as an bullying type statement, but that's literally the meaning the words connoted to me. .. and SidneyKidney's post has indeed been deleted, so it would seem to be the way it's intended.

I am conflicted over this. On one hand, perhaps the civil thing for SidneyKidney to do could have been to not post... to just swallow hard and overlook his feelings. Or, he could speak out, and I guess to be complete, he also had the option to say frig-it and just leave SRP and move to another shaving forum.

SidneyKidney chose to speak out and voice his disdain... personally, not only do I respect his right to do that, but I applaud that he cared enough about SRP to voice his criticism. We've each had to make up our own mind about this and do what we feel was right for us... but we will ALL bear the consequences of our collective decisions since this is a cultural issue, in a sense.

SRP has always been a place of civility... IMHO a more civil and polite way to have said it could have been "Guys, please refrain from making posts in this thread because... ". But that's hindsight at this point.

My mother impressed on me at about the age of 7 (with the aid of a paddle) that saying "I'm sorry" AFTER I broke her vase did NOT excuse what I'd done... the vase was still broken. She instilled in me that day that I needed to think about the consequences of my actions BEFORE I bumped into it and it crashed onto the floor. She instilled in me that my actions will always have consequences and there are few do-overs in this life.
This wasn't an end of the world incident and hopefully SidneyKidney will recover from what I suspect he's perceiving to be, at best, a mostly uncaring response from SRP.

From my perspective, I hope civility returns as the norm in our forum and there's no more bullying. As someone said in another thread the other day related to some perceived bullying...
We're trying to have a discussion here. You've made your point repeatedly (mod's name). We get it. When everybody's ready to drop it it'll drop. Till then, we'll strive to discuss in a gentlemanly manner. That's our way.

The reason Don is asking the males not to post is that we want to hear from the ladies. If Don didn't ask, it would probably end up looking like the project coochie razor thread, with 200 posts of males and a handful posts of ladies who'd rather not post in a thread with half a dozen guys asking for pic of the areas to be shaved.

The reason for Don's thread is specifically to get the ladies perspective on creating a ladies corner.
Right on the money you are all blowing it out of proportion. Wanted to seek interest from the women and I got it while not having to sort through abunch of post.

Joe I disagree with you, the mod and other mods in that thread were trying to be polite and nice the problem was no one was listening to them and that is not exceptable Members are required to listen to Mods they are the ones assigned to keep order like it or not they are needed. If I was insured people would of listened if I posted it another way I would of and I do not regret at all how it was posted it was not meant to harm anyone just make a pointand keep the info in the thread clean it was basicly research nothing more.

Seems to me that a gnat is being turned into an elephant here. I understand SK's frustration. I don't agree but I understand.

To me it seems that for once for a purpose there's nothing wrong with posting to s specific target audience. Now the wording might not have been right......but that happends sometimes.

Seems to me like this isn't a big deal and it'd be best if it was left alone.

PS. I apologise for posting after the topic was closed. I never noticed that it was. So for those thinking that I was trying to get 1 more word in...I wasn't. I just never saw the lock on the thing. I'll pay more attention in the future.

    TOPIC CLOSED

My apologies, I deleted the original "Closed" post for the Admins. Without it some are not seeing the status and can still post into the thread.
