After all the issues with my wife, (some of which are still pending), my father is now in ICU at Porter Hospital. Please place him in your prayers.

Well, my father went in for bilateral knee replacement, and this was the first time he ever had general anesthesia. when he was done with the surgery, he just could not shake the anesthesia, and would fall asleep about every 3 to 5 seconds (no exaggeration). He would be talking to you and three words into his first sentence he would fall asleep. Now the other part to the story is every time he fell asleep he would stop breathing. Literally, stop taking breaths!! Se we had to stay there and keep waking him up every few seconds to make sure he continued to breathe. They put him on a CPAP machine to force air into his lungs to try and let him sleep, and he had to be put on a very high level for the machine, but eventually it started to work, and he could sleep for about 30 seconds before he stopped breathing, and it progressed gradually where he could sleep for longer periods of time.

Well, he has now progressed, and the plan is to move him from the ICU tonight or tomorrow, so it seems the scary part has passed, but now he has to recover from the bilateral knee replacement. He has a long road ahead, but I may get some sleep tonight.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers.

Good luck. It does pour when it rains. One after the other my two year old came down with a rare blood platelet condition that had her in the ER getting a cat scan with a racquet ball sized lump of blood over her eye after a routine (for a two year old) bump on the head and my dad came down with a mystery infection in his foot that landed him in the ER and hospital for three night and with self administered IVs of antibiotic for about two weeks. Now the blood condition appears to have passed completely and my dad's foot is back to normal. So you are in my prayers and hopefully your dad's condition will also resolve. "This too will pass" often comes through.
