Thread: Banned my first person today!!

Ok, not on this forum but on a Rollerblading forum that I'm a member of.

Things had been getting really bad there recently. People cussing and yelling and picking on each other. So I talked to the forum owner and he pretty much said "Do YOU want to do something about it?"

So he made me a MOD.

I've only been doing the cleanup for about two days (started yesterday) and have already banned 1 person and given out more warnings than I can count on one hand.

It's kind of exciting. I'd like that place to be like this place but with younger members (most of them are in their teens so it might be hard) and about Rollerblading.

Anyone else ever done something like this?

Sure lots of people have done stuff like that Sadam,Adolph,Benito,and many more,dont know if they found it exciting(before you go nuts this is a joke)

Seriously. The place was terrible. Some new guy would ask a question and would have to run for cover because of all the "Noob" "Idiot" and a whole bunch of X-rated words that wouldn't be appropriate to use here.

All I'm doing is finally enforcing the forum rules there. You know, the ones everyone signed when the joined the place.

way to go LX! I've been a Mod on a genealogy site, but never had to ban anyone, if anything it was tamer than SRP. Of course, most of our members were female and 40-65 years of age, so we didn't have to deal with too much other than lame jokes.

I bet its more fun being banned than banning.

Still, it's a difficult job but one that sounds like it needs doing. One of those thankless tasks. I'd say be polite and stick to your guns. If you find you are a lone voice maybe it's not the place that deserves your attention.

I mean, because it's like, aerodynamic or something.

I used to crack up when I was in the old AOL sports chat rooms - if you said you liked the "wrong" team before you knew it you were barraged with curses. I've been pleasantly shocked by how pleasant the shaving forums generally are.
