roll your own cigarettes
I recently bought a Supermatic cigarette roller and began rolling my own cigarettes. (bad habit I know) It's cheap and you can get some really nice tobacco. Does anyone else here do this? I can make a whole carton for 10 dollars.

Thanked: 22when I was very young my brother taught me how to roll cigarettes without the machine, so that I could roll them for him, then I would get rewarded a few for my effort.
RYO's (roll your own) are like the poor mans smokes back home, its no longer "cool" to smoke anything other that tailor made. I have know idea why considering a pack of 25 is roughly 10USD a pack, that was more than a year ago too and the prices were increasing like every 3 months.
I liked Port Royal and Riverstone.
$10 is very cheap, you don't find yourself smoking more because they are shorter than a normal smoke? Tobacco 30g cost $15 USD and that would last a week if you stretch it out and use the crumbs.

Thanked: 351Well, I quit close to 15 years ago now.... best thing I ever did! However, up to that point, it was always a pouch of tobacco and a pack of rolling papers... none of that machinery needed! Mind you, I'm used to the european style pouch tobacco, cut long for hand rolling... there was only one blend I could get locally, a dutch one that worked ok for me and I had used it regularly when I lived in Norway, but honestly.... give it up man! I'd rather spend the 10 bucks on a new soap or cream and actually have the sense of smell to enjoy it.

I loved my supramatic I could stuff a pack of filters in about ten minutes when I was really into it. I'd sit in front of the TV and roll them up a carton at a time. I could get a decent smoke for ten a carton smoking Gambler Light, or a really good smoke for less than twice that ordering from D&R Tobacco company. I still miss smoking, but like not smoking just as well. Handrolling is the only way to get either affordable cigarettes or tasty cigarettes.

I bought a pipe and 25g of a really nice blend of tobacco for it close to a week ago. It's nice to take out on the porch after a good meal or for a walk in the evening. Smells sweet.
As for cigarettes, I just buy packs normally. But I've rolled a few in the past. You've got me wanting to try rolling some of that tobacco I've got, actually. I realize pipe tobacco isn't as dry, but hey, it's still tobacco... and it smells better. I'm trying it right now! I will report back.

I started rolling my own a few months ago after visiting Kirsten pipes in Seattle. I have never liked regular cigarettes but smoke cigars and pipes. I found the quality of tobacco for rolling your own is far superior to commercial cigarettes and I don't need an hour take a smoke break.

At 10 dollars per pack, that's only 150 packs to get to 1500$, which would buy you this:

If you smoke 3 packs per week, that'd be 50 weeks.

I roll cigarettes for my wife. A pack of Marlboros here in Massachusetts goes for
about $5.50. A pack of the cigarettes I roll averages out to $1.30. Pretty much
a no brainer. Plus the tobacco I buy at my local tobacconist is pure tobacco,
no chemicals added so I suppose it's a "healthy" cigarette.
The machine I use is a Top O Matic. Even when I first purchased that for $50 and
all the supplies it came out cheaper than a regular carton of cigs.

Thanked: 3I like to alternate between the taylor made and RYO cigarettes! Although I also use a filter tip when I roll my own! They're too harsh without them IMO! A good rolling tobacco I like is Golden Virginia or Amber Leaf. Both very mild and don't strip your throat of vital tissue like many others!!!
But, as with all things in the UK, it is a bloody expensive habit for which I am soon to quit (for sport and fitness reasons!)
Good luck to me!!!!

Been rolling(actually stuffing) my own for three years. I have a Premier Excel stuffer in the house and keep a Premier Quickfill in the car. I've been fortunate to have found a very good tobacco blend locally(Tobacco Depot house blend) that comes very cheaply. All told I can stuff two cartons worth of cigarettes for about 17 dollars.
I also have a small collection of older rolling devices and machines. They all function, but really pale in performance compared to modern stuffing machines.
