It seems the tide is turning! The last figures that I have heard were that 55 to 60% of Americans are for drilling for our own oil now! Before the gas price increases it was only 40 to 45%!

It's funny, but I would rather see the current gas prices drive technological innovation rather than increased drilling. We already know how to drill for oil. It is a little disappointing (not necessarily, to me, for any environmental reason). I was hoping that the current gas prices would lead to the "repatriation" of some of our industry that has been outsourced and spur technological developments in energy usage and procurement possibly making it feasible to live in places we couldn't before. Just ramblings as always.
In the interest of full disclosure: I have no commute to speak of and am not effected by gas prices as much as a lot of folks.

Believe me Sicboater, the money movers and makers look far into the future and will not be caught unawares! I am certain that as we speak, they are looking into many different oil replacement options!

Today I heard that at least 73% of the American public wants the US to drill for oil!!!

The problem is that the other 27% contains those people we more often call the congressional majority

The President of the United States of America, apparently just lifted the presidential ban for drilling!
I think the legislature should do the same so that we can see how it is not going to make any difference to the gas prices, which seem to be the common populistic theme these days.
Come to think about it, didn't the president who lifted the ban failed in the oil business, while his father who instituted the ban was successful when in the oil business... Of course at the time the ban on drilling was put in place the oil prices were going down... which may explain both the ban, and the failures of the said oil ventures.
But, no Lee, you're very mistaken - oil is good, puts food on our tables and nice finish on our razors.
