There is a reason why personal injury lawsuits aren't filed immediately after the accident takes place. In many instances, the injured person may not know whether they have a temporary or permanent injury for months or even years after the accident happens. They may have injuries that are initially treated conservatively, but if that fails they may need more invasive treatment, like surgery. For this reason, the injured party would not want to file their lawsuit too quickly, without knowing the true extent of their injuries. So the law sets a deadline for filing the lawsuit and as long as that deadline is met, there is nothing wrong and it says nothing about the merits of the case when the lawsuit is filed months or years after the fact. Otherwise, a case might go to trial without the injured person having finished his or her medical treatment, and the jury would not be able to assess if the injury was minor or catastrophic. So you really can't ascribe any meaning to the timing of when the lawsuit if filed.

Thanked: 131Of COURSE it matters how much she initially sues for! Do you think she would get more publicity for the case if she was sueing for $50 or $50million?
