I had the Space Base too!!!!!!!
We had Mechano too, but it wasn't as much fun as Lego. It was harder to destroy whatever my brother made, hehehe
Thanks for the trip down memory lane Agent Orange. Our friends son has ALL the Star Wars lego, he looks once at the instructions then builds perfectly everytime. Spike got his daughter the Belville Lego, I'm ashamed to have pink lego in the house.

Space Explorer!!!!
Many happy days, when the biggest issue you'd have to deal with, was how to get those bricks into an exciting new shaped ship....

Ii love going to the Lego stores where they have the bins with blocks in every shape and color. You can find a replacement for anything you've lost. Though it certainly wouldn't be worth the trouble, I always thought it would be fun to design something on paper first, then go buy exactly and only the blocks I needed, just to see if I could pull it off.

"Legos were forged by Lucifer himself" (in groundskeeper Willie's accent). That being said. I found them to be the most addictive toys I ever had when I was younger. Legos realy open up the mind, and are one of the most creative toys, EVER. Because of Legos I have always wanted to build things and eventually got into engineering. Even to this day, I check out the Lego aisle. And at 30 years of age I still buy a set on occasion. Favorites, other that the Star Wars line, is the Samurai line, and the modern Bionicle series. I can't recall the names of the early sets I owned, as they were alway assembled differently that there intended purpose. Legos... I love them...

Years ago I was in Orlando for a network security conference. We had a couple of extra days and hit the major tourist traps^H^H^H^H^H destinations.
One of these was a Lego Land. Lifesize stuff -- a mother pushing a baby carriage, a person napping on a park bench and a dragon are the ones I recall. I couldn't believe they were Legos. Has anybody else seen this? I think it was at downtown Disney, but it was nearly 10 years ago so I can't say for certain.
