Question Ice cream - The cold topic

Americans are well known for their ice cream consumption. If I remember the article I read a while ago well, it's an $ 20.000.000.000 industry (US only)!
Undoubtedly there must be lots of ice cream lovers, enthusiasts and specialists on SRP. So, declare yourself. What are the famous brands in the US and what is/are your favorite ice cream flavour(s)?

The best milkshake in Christendom is at the University of Minnesota Ag School's pavilion at the Minnesota State Fair.

Best Commercial? Maybe Sebastian Joe's in Minneapolis.

I could eat ice cream three meals a day, and since I'm only 22 I've still got the metabolism for it. While I was at college, we had Ben & Jerry's at our campus store, so I could buy pints with funny money. I prolly averaged about three per week. Phish Food, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Vanilla Heath Bar Crunch, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Half Baked, and the one with minty cookies that look like Oreos but aren't were the staples.

Now that I'm outta school, I'm going to be exploring the Wegman's $1.99 per box veriaties since they don't take funny money there.

Cold stone creamery! They mix the ice cream flavors and anything else you want into it right in front of you and yes they do it on a cold stone . They make their own Ice Cream and I haven't had a bad one yet..
Austins Ice Cream parlor here in Tucson is also good. Ive heard that they have the best Pistachio Ice Cream made.

Marble Slab (Cold Stone with a different name) makes a wonderful Peanut Butter ice cream that I love, but they rarely carry it. My go-to ice cream though is Braum's Chocolate, Chocolate Almond, and Rocky Road. I'm also a lover of Blue Bell's Butter Pecan.

Ice cream is a social type thing here. Everyone likes ice cream and there's always a flavor you'll like. It can be a cheap way for everyone to hang out and have fun. Besides, right now it's 93F with 45% humidity- a good ice cream takes the edge off that

For ice cream, there is only one flavor, Vanilla. All of the rest are abominations (except pralines and cream). And for manufacturers there is only one superior brand, Blue Bell. I can't get it here in Colorado, so I just sit and . Then I make my own, with real vanilla bean, and vanilla extract, whole milk/cream, and fresh eggs. NOTHING BETTER (except Blue Bell ).

Now I live with all women, so I have to put up their chocolate chip, chocolate chunk, fudge swirl, chocolate cream, with chocolate topping, but I just sit with my bowl of vanilla and laugh at them, and then run for the cellar because they are all on the same cycle. I swear, even my 2 and 4 year olds have a cycle that falls right in line with their mother.

It's been proven that women who live with/near each other tend to get on the same cycle

I didn't realize Colorado is outside Blue Bell's region. They do make some superior vanilla, though I don't much like straight vanilla. Theirs is the only straight vanilla I will eat.

Anyone who doesn't know about blue bell should take a look at the Wiki page on it: Blue Bell Creameries - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is truly a marvel what they do. They only sell to 16 states in order to guarantee their quality. It shows too: even though they only sell in 16 states, they are number 3 overall in the country in sales.

Those of you who live in the right areas of the country-carvel is great. They used to have it here years ago but they closed up. I used to live in N.Y so I was used to hearing the commercials with Tom carvel years ago. He's passed on now and some big corporation took them over.

For ice cream, nothing beats home made. I haven't had the good fortune to try BlueBell, But as a child I did enjoy Penguin icecream... They were small stores that made their icecream in 20 gallon batches on the premesis, from fresh local ingredients.
Unfortunately I believe they have all gone the way of the DoDo bird, and drive in theaters.

I don't know many of the brands you guys are talking about, but over here my favourite ice cream is New Zealand Natural. Don't know if you get that in the US, or if you do, how it compares to the others you have mentioned.
