Default And the Nobel goes to...

This is a great story that a smurf showed me.

There recently was a death of a 98 year old lady named Irena.
During WWII, Iliana, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist.
    She had an ulterior motive...
She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews, (being German).
Iliana smuggled infants out in the bottom of her tool box she carried, and she carried in the back of her truck a Burlap sack, (for larger kids).
She also had a dog in the back, that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in, and out of the ghetto.
The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog, and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.
During her time and course of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants.
She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, and arms, and beat her severely.

Iliana kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out, and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard.
After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it, and reunited the family.
Most of course had been gassed.
Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes, or adopted.
Last year Iliana was up for the Nobel Peace Prize....
    She LOST.
Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming.
Check it out: Life in a Jar: The Irena Sendler Project
    From Snopes.com snopes.com: Irena Sendler

I will say though I'm glad the Nobel committee has a sense of humor, it's just sad that they forgot to award the prize to any true winners

I think I'm going to puke.

Mention of Al Gore often does that to me, yet now I think I have special cause.

A little luck and we would have been spared, Al you came sooo close! to actually doing a service for your country.

Well, Snopes does mention that is impossible to categorically say that she was a nominee since Nobel Prize nominations are sealed for 50 years, so this really is just all speculation...that said, if she was nominated, it should have gone to her and not Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Just call me skeptical, I guess.

The article goes on to mention
IFSW is deeply saddened that the life work of Nobel nominee Irena Sendler, social worker, did not receive formal recognition', said David N. Jones, IFSW President.

Having been light infantry, this is my favorite picture of Al Gore, why couldnt he have caught/pulled the trigger and saved us all. This is the guy who wanted to tell us about gun safety. And then Good honest and heroic people are booted to the side so Al the golden child can have a few more moments in the sun.

Taking a quick look at the pic again I noticed the selector switch was in the fire position, it still may have had a round in the chamber even with the mag removed. But he still had the muzzxle cap on the weapon and judging from the brand new look of his clothing, he had probably just been issued the weapon as well. Either way hes still around to live the privileged life while pretending to be a champion of justice, a defender of the common man, and saviour of the world! Going back to the pick, I really would have liked to have been there to see him hump that pack, the way hes got all that **** piled up would have kicked his ass. But more than likely hes waiting for the jeep to pick him up, while the common grunt is sweating the life out of himself.

sorry I'm a bit late for the algore bashing party... did you guys see manbearpig tonight?

However back to the original post I'm a bit confused between Irena and Iliana - is this the same person? Not using a person's name correctly when giving them credit sounds rather disrespectful to me.

In any case, here's what the will of the dead man is alleged to state

Peace Prize should be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."
And here is the record of all awards up to date. Methinks even if that lady deserved to be given the prize, perhaps it could've been done before she was dead at the ripe age of 98.

    So, what about that manbearpig?
