I'm glad to hear that you're sticking with it! Sorry to tell you to spend more money, but at least get a cheap brush and some cheap soap from the local drug store... even the cheapest will be better than canned shaving cream.

I'm rather poor too but with some hunting for low prices for a razor and all got out of it rather cheaply. and now I'm not paying $10 for a pack of 4 mach 3 cartridges!

If you came more often, you'd be able to sign up for the monthly giveaways, then you might get lucky and win some good equipment.

Have you checked out Colleen's soap? They are reasonably priced and of high quality. Her site can be found here. You got to at least have a good soap, also pic yourself up a cheap boars hair brush, they can be had for less than $2.

I too started out with a feather, and Colleen's soap made all the difference.

Since your here now, how about you tell us, how your getting on with shaving with the feather?

I can truely relately to money issues!! I got my first brush at CVS drug store for about 5 dollars and a disc of Williams soap from Wal-mart for about 1 dollar and I just use an old large coffee mug for a cup. I don't claim to know your specific situation, but thats just 6 buck, now for the strop, I have been told you can use sheets of newspaper and get good results, I have not tried it personnally though.
    Best wishs, and good luck!
