    Default Hurricane Ike..too much information?

I'm sitting here in Houston, waiting for Ike to come kill us all, or waiting for a little rain.

Last night on the weather channel I heard some "expert" saying Ike had broken up and fallen apart, but then this morning I see this online from ABC news..
but in Houston, officials made a bold decision: They did not issue a mandatory evacuation order for the entire city.
ABC News: Brave Few Plan to Ride Out Ike

The local stations in Houston have been nonstop Ike for several days now. We were so well prepared here that I couldn't find any gasoline yesterday morning because we have been repeatedly warned to have a full tank, "just in case". I find that kind of disturbing because I really don't want to run out of gas while fleeing the 20 ft tidal wave we are also being warned about. I did get to hear an interview with an elderly evacuee who let us know that her dog was so good that he did both of his duties outside the center. I just think we are getting way too much information here.

ugh, I know how you feel, dude. I remember when Rita hit, and all the panic and hysteria. Turned out to be so mild by the time it hit me (I lived in East Texas at the time) that I actually went out jogging in the storm and it wasn't a big deal.

Geez..the whole Rita fiasco is going to get people killed..again. There are people still in Galveston and I saw video that the water is well over the seawall already. I can't blame them for staying, like my neighbor said,"Better to die in the comfort of my own home than from heat exhaustion stuck on the road somewhere."
How can we make an informed decision based on so many different versions of the "facts"

Wow, here's a fact that wasn't discussed before the hurricane. Two to four weeks without electricity. I'm at Krogers with my laptop using their free wifi service. I'm online looking for info about when the power might be back on.
I am one of the only guys with a decent shave in our condos. I have been shaving by candlelight with cold water, but still getting a great shave with some of my better razors
