The "illiterate electorate", and I include myself in that group, needs to know that the Health Care program that Obama is advertising, has been in place for many years, and supported by all Presidents, it's called the Welfare Program, he could change the name, expand it a little bit to include illegal immigrants, but not much, because that costs money, and that's about it
If that's the best the McCain campaign can do, that's really pathetic and they will loose because of their own incompetence. The people they need in order to win are not drinking the kool aid and guilt by association is an extremely weak argument. Obama has had enough exposure by now that my feeling is people have gotten used to him and have a fairly good idea what person he is, so trying to get voters afraid of him is probably not going to work.Quote:

It doesn't matter whose pick was she, it's McCain's responsibility to make this decision. May be he thought she would be a bad choice but decided it's worth the gamble - that still speaks very poorly of him. The only asset that she brings to governing (not to winning the election) is that she has stood up to corruption before (even though she's not a saint herself). This is in fact fairly important issue, but I doubt he really plans to spend his presidency purging Washington from coruption. Not only is this not his job, but it's politically unfeasible.
I don't know if any of you watched MSNBC on Friday but Olberman (yea I know he's not exactly impartial) but he played an excerpt from the debate between Bush and Gore and then some excerpts from this V.P debate and it was as if they xeroxed bushes comments and had her memorize them because her comments were exactly word for word the same as his. I guess if she gets into office we know what to expect.
As far as her limited intellect and large ambition where have we heard that before? Just about every petty second world dictator from the 20th and 21st century.
I too feel sorry for McCain and Palin, they can't afford the advise of the experts in this forum, but I can tell you this,
Obama is nothing but empty rethoric with no substance and no experience whatsoever, and Biden is only a fixture that has failed in more than one Presidential campaign (I wonder why?) :D

It's the second thing I don't understand.......the part about her "Staying away from the press", as you put it. Yes, she IS being criticized for doing that by mostly independents and Democrats, but there's a few of her own party doing the same. Do you feel like it's a case of unfair and unwarranted griping? If so, then how do you explain what looks to be a well thought out decision to do just that?
To me, it's not IF she stays away from the press, because that's obviously the case. No, my question is the WHY of picking that strategy for success. Antonio, why do you think she's been staying away? Can you tell me what positive note that has going for it? Why does what seems to many as avoidance of the press play to Mrs Palin's strengths? I just can not see it for the life of me.
No need to reply if you'd rather not. It may be tough to put things into words, although I'd like to see it. Sorry Antonio, I guess I'm a little jaded and would just like to see any info I may be missing. More facts make for more accurate decisions, as I think you'd agree. Even if you don't care to respond, it was still good seeing another perspective on things.

The GOP who prides it self on being the party of the christian right (or has been taken over by), that's what their policy is. So If you don't like it don't get mad at me, get mad at the GOP or for that fact the christian right.

I think Hutch is speaking of the political activities of the Christian Right -- groups like the Christian Coalition and Moral Majority, and their fellow travelers. They were the ones who politicized religion in this country, and the emerging tone of this thread, I think, amply demonstrates the unwisdom of that decision.
