EMS Bike Team
I finally got approved to be on the Special Event Paramedic Bike team. My first event was tonight, Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs Clemson Tigers Football (ESPN televised). It was great! Other than cruising around the tailgating and really wanting to drink beer, I really had a good time, and got a lot of exercise. But now it's 120 am, I'm home, and completely wired from 9 hours of bicycle riding. I was really apprehensive about going out there, because it's difficult to get on the team, and once you're on it, they expect you to go to all the games, and other community events. But I think it's going to be pretty awesome. I almost ran into a bike cop though. He was working a minor traffic accident in the parking lot, and after I rode by to make sure no one was injured, I went to pop my front wheel over a curb, our medic bikes are really weighed down on the back wheel, and I popped this big wheely and almost ran right into him. Pretty embarrassed to say the least. So I made up for it by directing traffic for him until he finished his report. I just felt like telling someone about my night, everyone here has been long in bed. Thanks for reading,
Chad.
P.S. next time I'll bring a camera. Pretty fun opportunities for pictures.
A funny thing that happened: Some people were complaining about this suspicious character walking around checking out cars. After some investigating, ended up he was an undercover narcotics officer. Of course this was after several bike teams looking out, and calling some PD teams out to look. The only way I found out was after talking to him myself. The Police guys were pretty tight lipped. They just said, oh yeah, he's ok, we aren't worried about him. lol.Last edited by Ditch Doc; 10-10-2008 at 05:35 AM.

That actually sounds like a lot of fun! What kind of bikes do they have you on? I just love riding, no matter what the occasion.

We are on Trek police bikes. PD is on Cannondale, which are much nicer. But ours are OK. Shimano Deore XT derailleurs, and slicks. her's a couple of links.

The bike is very similar to this one, but with tons of bags.
