Thanked: 8Depending on the amount of money I would buy a hobby farm so I could sell the food for the gold and silver. I would then be out of the city's where if things got really bad I didn't have to worry about all the yahoo's with nothing to loose. If things got better then I could later sell the hobby farm if I wanted to for a profit.

Well, one could argue that pocket watches etc have no intrinsic value.
Bruno
Bruno,
According to Recycler's World: Baled Waste Paper Category -- Waste Paper Recycling
today the price of Baled Mixed Paper is $21.38 per ton. A LOT of Stock Certificates are now worth about $21.00 per ton.
The Pocket Watches I mentioned, for the most part, have Gold Cases. That alone would give them a fair intrinstc value. Considerably more than Enron Stock!
EDIT: What I am saying is that MANY of the watches, in the Grades I mentioned, were cased in Gold Cases...over the whole of their production. There were thousands made.
They are fine mechanical watches, they need no batteries, or much of anything else, outside an occasional cleaning.
Regards,
Jeeter

not really. congress is controlled by the dems now, and we just posted our third record quarter in a row, with new contracts rolling in all the time.
now, I'll give credit where credit is due, to my company's PAC, but the fact is both sides love spending money on defense.
after all, if you shortchange defense spending, you must hate freedom

rat's butts
I'd invest in RAT'S ASSES because no one gives a rat's ass any more. Therefore there is a shortage in them. Remember everything is supply and demand!

Trust me...he's not telling me what I want to hear. I work in the defense industry too and my company has been doing really well. But if Obama wins he has made it very plain that defense and Aerospace will take a hit.
But to be fair, with the problems we are facing in the economy a lot of funds are likely to be reallocated to other areas by whoever is elected.Last edited by BFMC AJ; 10-15-2008 at 03:01 AM.

Land... Specifically, the land underneath the wind turbines that are not yet built.
