I had hoped someone else would get on Oklahoma's ballot, but it didn't happen, and then I considered not voting for President but of course decided against that. I don't like that our choices are limited to the lesser of two evils, but when those are the only choices I have, I have always chosen the lesser

Me too! Especially since there is very convincing evidence that the legalization of abortion is the strongest cause of the decrease in crime we experienced in this country in the 1990's. Of course, it all shakes out to if you think that trade off is worth it, which most pro-lifers don't.

Is it ever worth it to deliberately take an innocent human life in order to stave off the possibility of crime?
Or as in Brad's suggestion, to help someone else cope with their situation?

If the unborn is not a person with the same God-given rights as one who has made it through the birth canal, then what difference does crime make? If it's just a lump of tissue, then is any special argument needed to justify its termination?

It's unfortunate that the four on the two tickets are the best the major parties could get elected, but working with what we've got, I don't even see Obama / Biden as an option. If I thought Palin would support killing more than five million innocent civilians over the next four years for no other reason than it is her right to choose, then I would do as Brad suggested and help keep her out of Washington

The anti-abortion issue is the only issue that the republicans have in their favor in my mind. On every single other issue I think they are horribly amiss.

Lee, do you really believe anyone who is pro-choice is going to "support killing 5 million innocent civilians"?

I hope not because I have yet to meet said person.

My personal beliefs on abortion are that it is an extremely sad process, and is a choice that I don't support in the slightest for the overwhelming majority of the cases. But the alternative of government intervention is wrong on a different level, the woman should have the final say, period. It's her body that's potentially on the line, the situations are far too complex to have a blanket solution applied to them, and it just isn't the right of the government to tell citizens what they can and can't do with their bodies.

On that subject, here is an interesting vid of a person who actually survived an attempted abortion and is now a grown woman!

Interesting to hear it from someone who actually had an attempt made on her life in an abortion clinic as an unborn child.

There are plenty of Democrats who would choose not to have an abortion. They are free to pursue that choice under the platforms of just about every Democratic candidate I can think of.
