I don't think anything is as important as eliminating any chance Sarah Palin has of becoming President of the United States of America. The woman is at very least a blatant liar:

I was watching Nixon's bio on PBS last night and so much of what went on in his campaigns in the 50's sounded familiar - the avoidance of issues through fear mongering (or as i call it FUD - Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt...and now you could add another D - Denial). I could have closed my eyes and many of the smear tactics from the GOP side could have been on CNN. While Nixon was no prize and it was his criminal behavior that disgusted many members of my family and led them to seek alternative candidates, at least he can get some points for his Foreign Policy with China and the USSR.
But of course, Palin is a Foreign Policy expert on Russia...after all she lives next to them. What next? She knows about China becasue she's had moo-shoo?

I think Palin is getting a semi-pass because of the non-viability of the ticket-- sort of like the mercy rule in women's softball.
THIS is a pretty good investigative piece that questions whether Palin's half million dollar home was built for free by the guys that built the 12 million dollar Wasilla sports facility during the same time period. I think the National spotlight is shining right on the seediest parts of the Mayor of Peyton Place. I'd be surprised if her career, let alone her ticket, can survive it.
They are ALL a bunch of liars and thieves. I just can't decide if they were that way before politics, or a product of their environment.:shrug:
Either way, anybody who runs for a major ticket job under one of the 2 main parties in this country can't be trusted.

Also, to stay on topic here: Palin is a scary fundamentalist nutjob ("Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.). It looks like McCain is going to get STOMPED this season, so no worries about her...yet. They say she is seriously angling for next election season.
There are a growing number of instances when she is openly dissenting with McCain on strategy and policy issues, and she is getting more strident as McCains chances dwindle. This is a bad bad thing.
We have been collecting state quarters. I just got the Alaska quarter and am happy to report that Sarah Palin's picture is NOT on it. ;)

Palin is as corrupt as they come, with her entire political career being tied to oil companies or oil company law firms, Sen. Stevens and his son, and last-minute changes of heart when the outcome is obvious ("I was against the bridge to nowhere"....yep, after it became a scandal......). It is mind-numbing how people can be taken in by the phony "folksy" talk and the annoying beauty queen voice.
Imagine the firestorm if Obama suddenly started adopting "urban" phrases or a Southern accent while speaking in the South! I find it appalling that a supposedly educated adult cannot speak to basic Foreign policy issues or name their news sources, let alone someone who holds elected office. She is the embodiment of the "ignorance is a virtue" mentality that has become so popular. We have had 8 years of this...and Palin makes Bush look like a Rhodes Scholar.
Obama has issues as well - the loony pastor, not checking the history of some of the folks he has worked with, questionable votes in the Senate which now are coming back to haunt him....but I have not seen him use fear mongering or guilt by association attacks (except in response to McCain's)...
I do not feel the GOP has any interest in solving the problems...too many of their them have made money. They seem to be only interested in making people afraid and telling them who is to blame for the problems...and yet they love to portray themselves as "the common man". McCain was born into a family of military elite. Palin comes from a middle class family, with both parents as teachers (making her willful ignorance all the more abhorrent), but she seems to have left that behind in her quest to "pal around" with Oil company execs, lobbyists, and lawyers. I can only think that people still fall for this "I'm just like you" ploy because they believe "Hey, someday I could be rich too!"
Both candidates have been foundering in response to the financial crisis...changing plans, trying to one-up each other...but nothing on accountability or legal action against the fraudsters responsible. The situation in the US and World is so far in the crapper, that i do not think either candidate will have much success in a first term.
Both parties deserve credit for leaving Palin's unwed pregnant daughter out of the spotlight....although I'm curious how Palin has reconciled her daughter's unwed pregnancy with her rigid interpretation of the Bible....or is it another double standard? I wonder how things would have been handled if it had been Obama's daughter? I doubt the fringe right would have behaved in the same manner, given their recent behavior at rallies and Palin's and McCain's tacit endorsement. (Qui tacet consentit).
I am frustrated at the lack of candidates, the lack of solutions, and am despondent at the abandoning by McCain of his base principles.

I'd think Mrs Palin pretty much guaranteed herself some disappointment regarding the election. It seems difficult to comprehend that most of the undecided or liberal voters would go her way. She really will only appeal to a small group of people, and that will be a huge disadvantage to the GOP campaign.
Mrs Palin is being used as a blunt object, clubbing her way through any doubts the faithful base might have about the wisdom of her being chosen. Beating those adoring crowds over the head with whatever the heck she cares to say. Seriously, she can say just about anything (true or not), and it doesn't matter in the least! Hehe, of course, things like finesse and reason aren't allowed to be used by, or against her.
Yeah, that's a nice luxury for a politician, but it comes with a steep price. Saying outrageous or untrue things are fine..........as long as you can back up what you said!!!!!!! Being able to argue controversial points is crucial to maintain any sorta credibility, and she has been unwilling or unable to do that. She looks to be afraid of being incapable of defending those very points she makes to hook that audience right in. Maybe it's because she knows certain things to be impossible to defend in a logical and factual manner.
Nope, she's tainted goods for sure....the way she's been handled only confirms she's a poor choice for this country. God knows what she'd say if she was allowed to. Who knows what she REALLY thinks? Most independent voters can see they're being tricked by the GOP in this case, and won't fall for this tacky attempt at control.
I really doubt we'll see Mrs Palin as VP.........and I guess that means Mr McCain will not be the President either. She was his call from the beginning, and it only seems fitting she drags him down with her.

But in this election you have to consider a choice between two tickets, not just the merits of one ticket. I'll be voting McCain / Palin mainly because of their favorable comparison to Obama / Biden.
