Daylight Savings Hoax!
Autumn Daylight Saving is not an extra hour's blessing for those with wee children but the curse of an hour less! I assure you that Little Man does not know what a clock means and will rise an hour earlier tomorrow morning relatively speaking leaving the Validator and myself with an hour's less sleep. I'll be looking forward to Springing ahead next year.

Have you thought of a shot of scotch before bedtime? For him or you.....or both.

Why not. I don't know if it'll help at all, but WTF, eh?
We've actually been trying to change his schedule in advance over the last few days by letting him stay in his crib longer in the morning and stay up later. Today we pushed his meals and naps back an hour. We'll see how well our plans have worked in the next few days.

Thanked: 586I thought we are leaving Daylight Savings Time today (in the Autumn) and return to it in March. Am I mistaken?

That's right. The process is commonly referred to as observing Daylight Savings regardless of which way you're going.
Got him to bed after 9pm tonight. *crosses unsuperstitious fingers anyhow*

It took a week before my oldest stopped waking up at 4-5 AM and whining that it was time to crawl into our bed with us.
Got him to bed after 9pm tonight. *crosses unsuperstitious fingers anyhow*
'Daddy I want to go to sleep'
'No, you will stay awake some more.'
By the time she almost fell over I put her into bed.
't was a good night.Last edited by Bruno; 11-02-2008 at 08:37 AM.

Ha ha! This is one of those things every parent learns and never anticipates. My 3yo can't tell the time, so she gets up when she's ready. My 6yo can tell the time, but he gets up because he wants to.
There's no 'extra' hour in bed for parents until nearer teenage years, when, of course, I'm told you can't get the feckers out of bed before midday.
(No amount of strategic preparation will get you that extra hour... it's only once a year, you just gotta suck it up! )

Thanked: 131Tell them Santa is coming in preparation for christmas that night but only if they can stay awake long enough to see him. Eventually they will get so tired they will fall asleep. Put them into their bed. Long nights sleep. Presto.
