Thanked: 31Ballots
Just want to publicly express the gratitude I feel to live in a nation where I can go cast my vote, vote my conscience, and not have to worry that I'm going to be dragged out of my bed tonight and shot in the head for voting the way I did. God bless America (no one else will...)

Hear, hear! I was in Hong Kong during the 2000 debacle and some of the Brits were giving the Americans a hard time about the election. I pointed out that:
There were no tanks in the streets
No cities on fire
Once it was decided, Gore and his family did not "disappear"
Where did people protest - in the courts
When it was over, everyone got on with their lives...no purges, no retaliation.
Even in the face of the incompetence, atrocities, and lies of Bush, Cheney and Co., we are still a nation founded and based on laws.
The past 8 years have frayed the edges of the Constitution, but it has proven to be fire-retardant in the face of numerous flame-throwers.
Dickinson, Morris, Randolph, Sherman, Wilson, Wythe, Jefferson, Adams, and Paine would be proud.

True...the electors still have to meet...and even then, Jan is a long way away.
