This is physically taking place less than 50 miles from where I live. It is very disappointing. Do you still call this "collectivism"? I may be misunderstanding you. I looked up the word and it seems to mean something entirely different from what you've been saying:

I may be simpleminded but I see these acts of hatred as nothing more than the most basic intolerance.

i am going by definition 2. that is, grouping people together by one particular trait (race, religion) and then assuming everyone in that group is interchangeable. stereotyping, in essence.

like, i view someone only as a member of a group, rather than an individual. (e.g. part of a collective)

sorry, that word does have another meaning that is totally irrelevant to this conversation, i wasn't really being clear i guess.
