Thanked: 23Any other Dreamcast nerds out there?
Well... This may seem strange, but what the heck. SRP seems to be a pretty diverse community. :P
I was wondering if there are any other Sega Dreamcast nerds out there?
It was only recently that I discovered all the things I can do with mine, other than play Dreamcast games. I can use it for watching DivX movies, listening to MP3s, emulating the NES, Sega Genesis, Atari 2800, 3D0, Commodore 64.... Run Linux, surf the internet (though I haven't tried those two... yet. Maybe if I get bored tommorow my next SRP post will be on a Dreamcast. :P).
I have to admit, I'm pretty stunned at what it can do. :P

Thanked: 6Hey,
Yeah i got into the Dreamcast homebrew,
Most systems can do that now,
The original Xbox's are great for a media center and that oldschool stuff,
I mainly got into fighting games on the dreamcast tho
There is a dreamcast emulator for the PC, e g, you can run dreamcast games on the PC, which is pretty cool, saves me digging the console out to play
A couple years ago i made a 'mame cabinet'
Which is basically just an arcade cabinet with a computer inside, so on there i run all the emulators i can, including MAME (all the original arcade games etc)

Never had a Dreamcast. My first video game console was an Atari when I was a little kid. Not the 2600, but a smaller, more streamlined version. It came with Jungle Hunt and Pac Man Jr. I later acquired many of the classic titles. Asteroids... Yars Revenge... Defender... Combat... Space Invaders... Galaga... and everyone's favourite, E.T.
I got a Nintendo later on. What a great Christmas that was. It was so exciting to get the brand new orange and gray gun for Duck Hunt. Super Mario Bros. Ninja Gaiden. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So fun.
Then I got a Sega Genesis. Sonic the Hedgehog... Mortal Kombat II.
Then there was the PS1 Had a lot of fun with that. In 2001 I bought a PS2. Since then I've hardly played any games on it. I just use it as a DVD player, basically.

i always thought the dreamcast was way ahead of its time and never really caught on. i don't know if it was timing or price or what. a friend of mine's brother bought one and we played it for a whole night straight, then his mom made him take it back for some reason. i do remember it was pretty cool.
(OFF TOPIC) i really suck at video games so i am much more apt to get an emulator and a good controller for my computer and have fun on the old games. the Wii is pretty cool but way too addictive so i would never get anything done if i had it. although the Link shooting game is really sweet.
