Thanked: 131The night before christmas- an SRP take
A little festive fun for you guys. Apologies to those of you that I couldnt get in. Apologies to those of you I *did* manage to get in. ^^ Merry Christmas guys.
Twas the night before Christmas
- an interpretation by sidneykidney
'Twas the night before Christmas, and at SRP
Not a member was shaving, not even hoglahoo-Lee;
Their stockings were hung by the chimney in hope,
They’d get razors and brushes and maybe some soap;
Upstairs Glen was nestled up snug in his bed,
While dreams of a new hone danced in his head;
And Sue in her 'kerchief, Colleen in her cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When from the bathroom there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the seat to see what was the matter.
And into the room I flew like a flash,
The shutters were open and up was the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Reminded me somehow of good old Bruno,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a well-shaven driver, a jawline so slick,
Twas babys butt smooth, not a cut or a nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
I asked who he came for, he called them by name;
"For, Byron! For, Aaron! For, Lynn and for Dave!
And maybe Mark too (if he learns to behave!)
To Bill Watkins as well for if you recall
He gives away, gives away, gives away all!"
As smooth as a shave-ready Dovo will glide,
Down the side of your cheek (if you follow our guide),
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of shaving goods, St. Nicholas too.
And then, I despaired, on my newly tiled roof
The crashing and bashing of each little hoof.
As the window I closed, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
So clean was his shave, so smooth I had thought,
Twas as though Mr Abrams himself he had taught;
A custom Maestro Livi he held in his hand,
Like one majurey has, (worth over a grand!)
His eyes -- how they twinkled! His dimples how merry!
I thought for a moment he’d been at the sherry!
I saw that like Doc he’d a smiling round face,
(I suspected he’d just arrived from Silvers place);
The stories he told of a custom brush hold,
Made by Brad made me think he’d been overly bold;
He wore a broad belt like a strop made by Tony,
And I knew that he wasn’t some Santa-clad phoney.
He was friendly and fun, a right jolly old tyke,
And I thought of WildTim, of Freebird or Spike;
A wink of his eye as he reached for his sack,
Made me worry a bit- I was watching my back;
He filled all our stockings with Coticles blue,
Dubl Ducks, T.I’s and Pumas there too
To SRP members good wishes he sent,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he went;
He sprang on his sled, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, as he flew out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."
