Question I have to go to Phili end of december: HELP needed

    Hello everybody!

I just received good news: I have been short-listed for an interview for a job I have applied to. I will be in Philadelphia from the 26th to the 30th of December.

I have never been in Philly; could anyone give good tips for cheap accommodation? and general advices about the city life?

And if any of you living in Philly are wanting to have a coffee with a Swiss straight shaver, just drop me a pm, I'd like to meet you!

    Thank you!

Maybe I should take a trip down there during those dates! It's where I'm from. My brother still lives there. Where to start? I don't know much about accomodations there, let alone cheap ones. I'm thinking anything in the downtown area will be more expensive than outside the city. By the way, outside of the downtown area, the city is pretty huge and extends well outside of what you might think. Will you have a car?

City life- I don't care what he looks like or says, but NEVER give money to anyone who asks. Either ignore them or act too busy to talk. Just say 'no'. That's rule #1. Watch your pockets and belongings- this should be common sense in every city. Never put anything down and walk away from it. The 'Old City' area is the touristy part and very nice at that. Society Hill is ritzy and expensive. Broad street is kind of the 'arts' center along certain stretches and can look dodgy but is for the most part ok. What else do you want to know? I think common sense is the most important thing. If a guy looks like the kind of guy you shouldn't approach or stare at- don't lol. The bus system (SEPTA) is pretty good and thorough in terms of getting you around. The subway IMO is lacking. Go to Reading Terminal Market for great food if you get a chance. What else do you want to know?

I've spent some time in the Rittenhouse (sp?) Square area, and there's a lot going on there. I enjoy having a cigar and a drink in the cigar bar above Holt's cigar store. This is on Walnut. There's an Art of Shaving Store next door....Enjoy!
