WWF Pro wrestling question
So I was just watching K1. And after K1 they started showing vintage WWF wrestling bouts. I remember watching this when I was a kid.
But here's what I don't get: how do they decide who gets to win? Is that simply based on whatWWF (or whatever it's called management considers to be best (popularity -> money) or is there some other way in which it gets decided who gets to win?Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Whoever kicks ass is who wins! Isn't that the way it works in all sports?

Thanked: 1587I thought the person who won was the one who pinned the opponent to the floor for 3 seconds after beating them completely senseless.
Am I missing something? What are you guys saying?

I think it comes down to basic marketing .... whoever is the most marketable is the one they are going to push.
Plus it has to do with acting... some are more comfortable acting the part of the good guy and others the bad guy...
There is a story line they follow much like a soap opera... they just stretch the script out sometimes ..

Thanked: 586The WWE headquarters (used to be WWF) isin Stamford, CT, the city where Scarlett works now and I did work for 25 years. Those guys are everywhere. Hulk Hogan used to ride up on his Harley to watch our softball games. Sgt Slaughter used to drive aroung in a camoflage limosine.
The husband of one of Scar's ex-coworkers is the maintenance guy in the building. He told me the security is like the White House. You pull up to a gate and the guard checks you in. Then the gate opens and you drive into an underground entrance but iit is a double door chamber. You pull in through the outer door and stop at a closed door. The door you just drove through closes behind you and as you are trapped between two steel doors they come and search you and your car. Once cleared they open the inner door.He said the whole thing is based on poplarity. Whoever is likely to be the biggest draw for ticket sales will be pushed. They are contracted for one match. If they will be put up again, they get another contract for one more match. Even the superstars are contracted one fight at a time. I think that is because if a wrestler gets hurt and can't finght, there's no contractual obligation on the part of McMahon and the WWE.

I used to watch it on Saturday mornings when Gordon Solie was the host and I guess the promoter. You had Dory Funk Jr and his brother Terry, Jack and Jerry Briscoe and of course the American Dream Dusty Rhodes. Those were very entertaining shows. I don't know how they decided who won but as phony as it may have been those guys were athelets and I am sure it hurt.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Mick Foley aka Cactus Jack etc... lives near me... See him in the post office and local deli every now and then...
Super nice guy and has a very nice family. he actually graduated from HS one town over and a couple years before me. He was in school with my first wife... lol not that anyone knew who he would be. And Kevin james was there the same time as well....
Anywho just though add through that in since we are talking about it.
PS... I will say they do get injured for real sometimes. I saw Mick at the post office a couple days after a wrestlemania match and man was his face busted up good and very black and blue.
