    Default Old Cable Gear?

So not that I have any of this stuff, but is there any current use for cable descramblers and old school descrambled cable boxes? You know– the boxes with the keypad on top and the red digital readout on front. Or the little RFT descrambler boxes? All I know is everything is supposed to be digital now and that stuff hasn't worked for me... I mean guys say they haven't gotten those to work recently. Any reason for someone who has that stuff and got it all for free to do anything but throw it all away now? lol

First it depends on if you have analogue or digital. If your old equipment is the older stuff you can trash it. If its old digital the problem is now the stuff isn't just scrambled its got proprietary software with its own algorithm so there is no way any hacker is going to break that. Also most systems now have cards that identify the user so its like double encryption.

+1 with the above I am afraid. Our digital service is actually encrypted and password protected (128 bit hexidecimal) like wi-fi is in most places. I think the days of stealing cable are fast coming to an end.
