I've always enjoyed the stories, hopefully his son will carry on the family legacy.

I'm sorry to hear this, though I knew he was well up in years (didn't know he was 90, though!).
WGN Radio in Chicago carries "The Rest of the Story" regularly. Paul Harvey Jr. sounds a lot like his father and has been doing many of the broadcasts over the past year or so. I expect he will carry on the tradition.

Rob Gilbert spoke for me pretty well in a piece in today's Chicago Tribune:
"I didn't listen to Harvey for news. I could get that elsewhere. I surely didn't listen to him for his social 'comments.' We were at opposite ends of the political continuum. I listened to him for his stories. His stories were special for three reasons.
"First, he was insightful enough to know what a great story was. ...
"Second, even when one of Harvey's stories wasn't on target for me, I studied how he told it. He was a master storyteller.
"Third, he had his own unique style. Whether he was reporting the news or telling a story, he kept your attention by his pregnant pauses. He was the master of the pause. ..."
And that distinctive, resonant voice, of course, which he used with the virtuosity of a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra playing a superb instrument.
One other thing, which someone mentioned in the comments to the story Jimmy cited. Although his politics were just about 180 degrees from mine, I never got a sense of mean-spiritedness or personal hostility from his commentaries. He seemed like a man of integrity and of generous spirit, with whom--had we ever met--I could have exchanged ideas without rancor.
