It seems we have only cowards, conmen, and opportunists in office looking only after their own fat ass!

That's an angry young man alright, and it was great watching someone deliver such eloquent vitriol at our PM (our unelected PM!).

Hannan was on Newsnight last night (a longstanding BBC current affairs programme) and he was preaching how fiscal and economic policy is being directed by people who have not been democratically elected. OK, very good point. Except I find it hard to stomach coming from an MEP.

In the UK, I would say that most people have very little idea how MEPs are elected, and what they actually do. Given the endemic wastefulness within Brussels, the rhetoric, the stifling bureaucracy, and the opacity with which Brussels operates, it will take more than a rant to change anything.

If Hannan is serious, I would like to see him leave the safe cocoon of his political environ and instead 'return' home and do something about it from here -- he ain't gonna achieve squat (in terms of what he was ranting about) from his position as an MEP!

For now, AFAIC, it's just an amusing rant on Youtube which has hit no. 1 in the virals chart, which will be forgotten in two weeks, and the effect of which will be null. Shame, because he was making a great point.

Am I mistaken or is every man and woman in congress at least a millionaire ? What do they know about the struggle the unwashed masses go through and why wouldn't their constituency be people of their own social strata ? Water finds it's level. Not saying it's right just the way it is. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Always have, always will.

Why do we keep electing them?

There are self-made millionairs and I think they know a little about what it takes. There are also millionairs who make good politicians, but we choose to keep electing bad ones. I don't know...

Oh, It's simple enough I think.
The "good ones" are lambasted in the media, and the "bad ones" are willing to promise anything to anyone to get elected. The old P.T. Barnum quote "There's a sucker born every minute" or some such, applies here...only now that sucker is called a "voter" and while there are a few who see through the BS, there are unfortunately huge masses who believe whatever the TV implies they should believe, and vote for whoever promises not to kill Panda bears....or whatever other empty promise they think the politician has the slightest control over.

We get officials we deserve, I think, even if not the ones we need.

The "good guys" get hushed up very quickly, or do not get enough coverage to mean anything-the media seems to support one way of thinking only, after all. All others, good or bad...need not apply unless they have reams of money behind them.

It also pays to have a multi billionaire supporting one's campaign for free, as well.

Maybe electorates worldwide are only able to elect idiots?

Maybe bought and paid for idiots are all that are paraded before us, the only thing we are allowed to choose from, the good ones have been weeded out.

Why do people insist that Gordon the Moron Brown is unelected? As opposed to any other UK prime minister that is. Britain does NOT elect a prime minister as the USA elects a president.

The Prime Minister is the leader of the majority party in the Commons. He is not elected other than as a member of Parliament.

Bliar was the leader at the last election. Brown became PM the same way as some bloke called Churchill did a while ago!

That said, the youtube guy is pretty accurate!
