    Default What the f*@K?

take a look at this:Gates: U.S. Not Prepared to Respond to North Korea Missile Launch - First 100 Days of Presidency - Politics FOXNews.com

This one is for Brad:Press TV - Gates: US will not target N. Korea rocket

Even if its true, an American official should never say anything like this out loud! The perception of weakness on our part by countries that wish us harm and opportunists only heightens the likely hood of aggression against us!
Weakness allows bullies to exist and even flourish! Why on earth would this man say such a thing out loud? With his CIA training you would think he knows better. It makes you wonder if they are interested in seeing more aggression against America and its citizens.

"I think if we had a missile that was heading for Hawaii, that looked like it was headed for Hawaii or something like that, we might consider it. I don't think we have any plans to do anything like that at this point,"
Asked if the launch was set to happen, Gates said, "I think it probably will."
"I would say we're not prepared to do anything about it," he added.

While Ioften have little faith in some of our senior officials, I do not doubt we have the capability to shoot that down. What seems to have happened instead is a poor choice of words. They are choosing not to shoot it down, for political (or possibly intelligence) reasons. The former because of the extreme globalist bent of the current administration (might as well hold the elections in Germany) but the latter? seems simple to me...Korea says it can hit Alaska, our politicians say they can't do it...so let's track the thing and see if it could've made it.
    Just a thought.

first: how can we NOT be prepared to do something about it? did we crate all of our defences that we built up as soon as the soviet union fell?
second: i wish a mutha*#^#a would try to bomb us. 20 years from now the geography textbooks would have a picture of The Island of Korea a few hundred miles south of China. if "lil' kim" thinks he can win against allied forces after he bombs anyone, then he won't be alive by may. for his sake, i hope this really is a satellite. because as soon as that puppy starts to arc, it's gonna get shot down, despite what sec def says, and troops will be pulled out of icrap and crapghanistan with one goal, OPERATION LAY WASTE. and for those of you that think china is going to back them, i'm pretty sure that they're tired of lil' kim's crap. in the 90's, there was an attempt to set up a rail system that would go from russia to the tip of south korea, china and south korea gave money to north korea to build this trade inducing railsystem. the tracks stop in china and in south korea. i don't know what this guy's problem is, but if this is a missle, he won't have problems for much longer.

After I posted I was beginning to wonder if it was just a poor choice of words or had some other intelligence benefit that hadn't occured to me.

It only now occurred to you that the military might actually have thought about this before it reached your ears? The coach at the sideline usually has a better understanding of the game than the armchair quarterback

But regardless... North Korea does not pose any credible threat.
They have no decent long range military capabilities.
They can't attack in earnest or they get annihillated.
But the US can't do anything in earnest either, or seoul will be annihillated.

So there is a lot of sabre rattling, but nothing else.
IF NK releases a missile, it'll go nowhere, because if it would, then NK would not exist for much longer.
So given that certainty (or at least good betting odds) the smartest thing to do is get whatever information you can.

    But yeah. Booooo Obama. Boooo.

despite the popular belief, experienced high-ranking officials are not stupid.

I know our military considered it as evidenced by the Admirals remarks. it was the wording that Mr Gates used that was unfortunate and a bit irresponsible.
What does Obama have to do with the poor choice of words? If I wanted to boooo Obama I would've mentioned him.

Stupidity was not the thought that came to my mind.
In fact, when it comes to our elected officials, and appointed ones, stupidity rarely comes to mind.
More often words like lazy, treacherous, opportunists, irresponsible, etc., etc. come to mind, but stupid?...

True, but they're often shackled by those that are... 1,360 days left and counting.

I think every layer of our missile shield is in place for this one, especially since everybody and their brother already knows about it. I saw in the news that a missile ship with aegis on it had already left from a port in south korea. The japanese sent one in that direction as well. And about a month ago, somewhere in hawaii, we sent up a ballistic missile in a test that seemed to work just fine. I think they said they weren't going to shoot it down just because they could and **** off kim jong ill just for the heck of it. Although I think that would be funny if they did. Maybe they are hoping to see if it will fail or not.
