Default Received my dad's Military recs

Was any in Yankee Station or aboard the USS Oriskany between 1969 and 1972?

It turns out my dad was a Fireman E3 in the engine room. According to the history of the ship I think it departed San Fran in 69 and Japan in 72.

    Thanks.

That's cool you were able to get them. Is it what you were looking for?

Sorry, I don't know anyone that would have served then. I think the last of any men in my family to fight for our country was in the civil war

That's cool! Here's the U.S. Navy forum link and there's a very good chance that some of your dad's old shipmates might be in there as well.

    Just more questions really.

All that I received was his discharge papers and his enlistment papers.

I was on active duty in the Navy between 7/70 and 6/72 and when we were Japan we were on some operations with the Oriskany but I didn't know anyone on board her.

Default USS Oriskany Homepage - Vietnam Era

Lots of pictures here & if you scroll down the various divisions are called out with more pictures from 1969 - 1972. Take a look - hope you get lucky!

I thought this was interesting: this tattoo artist from the tattoo thread served on Oriskany, though his service ended in 69. C.W. Eldridge
