Thanked: 3Is Toxic Waste Behind Somali Piracy?
In 1991, the government of Somalia - in the Horn of Africa - collapsed. Its nine million people have been teetering on starvation ever since - and many of the ugliest forces in the Western world have seen this as a great opportunity to steal the country's food supply and dump nuclear waste in their seas.

Thanked: 278What a remarkably biased story. I particulary like his reference to "mysterious European ships."
Not so mysterious that he doesn't know they are European eh?

Thanked: 39I didn't read the article..I'm too lazy for that.
But I saw an interesting French documentary about this matter (I love those French documentaries) and according to that the pirates are former fisher that can't stand a chance against the big foreign fishing ships that basically clean the sea from fish.

I remembered reading this article from 2006 a while back. National Geographic calls it as they see it:

there are various ways to approach a given problem and understanding it well is a good place to start. usually saves, a lot of time money, effort, lives, etc.
i have not read the article because i've heard of these issued before and i don't need another highly slanted representation of it.
i think using one's brain when reading history, news and so on is rather essential.

Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle.
