    today 20 years ago the saddest day in uk footballing history clamed 96 lives.

    My late father was both a player and spectator. In his early years it wouldn't be an exageration to say football was his life. In the UK, by the 1970s football terraces had become too hazardous for him and certainly no place for youngsters. Post Hillsborough things have improved immeasurably, it's awful that it always seems to need a tragedy to bring about change.
    I expect our US friends find it incredible that for many years a football (soccer) game in the UK was no place for a family outing.
