Can't help you with airsoft, Doc. I am a paintballer, though. Airsoft is a big topic; I'd suggest a Google search for some forums, avoiding those that are overpopulated with ****y, unstoppable 13 year olds with their devastating weaponry. They'll drive you nuts.

Airsoft came way too late for me and my friends during the 70's, so we played the game with shop goggles and our BB guns. Our peers and adults considered us insane.

P.S.- The edited word was the same one used for a rooster. I was surprised the filter caught it!

I wouldn't consider myself an expert, but I know a little. The main thing is, stay away from the cheapo chinese knock offs, especially the electric ones. The best guns will be "gas" guns. The Maestro Livi of the airsoft world is Tokyo Marui (referred to as TM on airsoft boards). Make sure you get a good mask!

What I like about airsoft is that the weapons look so realistic. If it was a real life military or civilian piece, you can probably find it in airsoft.

I haven't ever really gotten into it, but I used to work with a guy who dabbled in it and I picked up on a few things. It depends on how much money you want to spend on it. Some of the guns get quite expensive, especially the ones that look and function as the real ones do. The gas ones are better. You might want to consider that the ones that put backspin on the little bbs will be more accurate as well.
