So, some guy put out jars in his back yard and collected rainwater that contained Barium? How does this prove that Contrails are the source?

Not to put down the good people of Louisiana, but I think the oil and chemical industries there have already done a pretty fantastic job of loading up the ground, air, and water with incredibly high levels of all sorts of pollutants.

Seriously, if you want to find a government conspiracy, you don't have to look too hard. The local police force is in cahoots with local tow-truck operators, the state government is in the pocket of big industry, and the national government just has their hand in your pocket, plain and simple. You want to find a conspiracy? Look at the Halibuten "no-bid" contracts in Iraq, look at the alarming lack of weapons of mass destruction found after our invasion, look at the fact that we havn't found Osama bin Laden, and look at the fact that, in spite of pledging to change things, the Obama administration's policies look surprisingly like the Bush administration's. Open up a newspaper and look at the REAL news, not the tin-foil-hat-wearing nut-job blogs out there.

Yeah, the government has had done some pretty f-ed up BS in the past, and they probably will in the future, but really, airplanes make contrails. Some days they hang around longer than others. Get over it. It's not some weird UFO/alien/genetic engineering thing. It's just us, burning fuel that we buy from Saudis, and then they take that money and help buy IED's to kill our sons and daughters. Home made bombs have killed more Americans than any contrail ever will.

just wanted to point out how much would have to be done to keep something like this a secret. It would be way to many people to expect that they would shut up

Just for the record: I have never heard of anything like this and it would be very difficult to spread it out in the atmosphere! They would have to make thousands of mechanics, ground personel and pilots keep it secret.
Try telling a secret to two of your friends: it will leak even with only a couple of people knowing, then try to make several thousand keep a secret..

Just as a side note what you could also be seeing in the sky are wingtip vortices which is produced from the airflow from under the wing "wrapping" around the wingtip and mixing with the airflow on top, due to the pressure differences and velocity directions, the flow spirals off the very tip, leaving two trails, one off each wing. This is not polluting in anyway and is just caused by aerodynamics, however it is bad for the efficiency of the aircraft.

This is just off the top of my head and I'm sure you don't want to be bored with the exact science of it!
